The new ISSEY MIYAKE shop opened on the 1st October 2008 at 11 Rue Royale in Paris. Between Place de la Concorde and Rue Saint-Honoré, in the heart of the luxury quarter, this shop provides space dedicated to contemporary design that is both didactic and dynamic. Based on the heterogeneous nature of the existing building, the architect and designer Jean-Guillaume Mathiaut (Atelier Edith) translates ISSEY MIYAKE’S desire to create a “workshop” space with an industrial character, consistent with the spirit of the location and the brand.
The shop is based around three major events: the fitting booths, a “grocery store” and a table dedicated to young design, visual and tactile displays around the Corian®. This composite material combining natural materials and pure acrylic polymers is used here in its white form, and is particularly interesting for the beautiful depth of material.
